On Monday, October 27, the Putnam County High School chapter of the Putnam County R-I National Honor Society gathered in the PCMS Auditorium to celebrate 11 outstanding student leaders as they were officially inducted into NHS. Family, friends, and staff filled the auditorium to honor these students for their commitment to the four NHS pillars: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.
NHS President Tayla Turner opened the ceremony and welcomed featured speaker Mrs. Brook Fleshman, PCHS School Counselor and proud Class of 2005 alumna.
Mrs. Fleshman delivered an inspiring message about the power of setting meaningful SMART goals, staying true to your purpose, and embracing the hard work it takes to succeed. She encouraged students to pursue goals fueled by what they love, reminding them that growth often comes with challenges, detours, and sometimes even tears. Her own story—from striving to become valedictorian to shifting her college path, renovating her first home with determination, and building a fulfilling career helping students—made her message relatable, encouraging, and full of heart.
Her words connected beautifully with our district’s CSIP goals of supporting student success, personal responsibility, and lifelong learning.
A special thank-you goes to the current NHS officers, members, and sponsor, Mr. Jeremy Watt, for leading the chapter and organizing a wonderful celebration.
We are incredibly proud of these students who continue to set the bar high academically and personally. Their leadership today helps shape the leaders of tomorrow.
