Putnam County R-I Celebrates March 2025 PC MVP and Finalists

As we wrap up the certified staff recognitions for the 2024-2025 school year, Putnam County R-I Schools is proud to celebrate our March 2025 PC MVP and Finalists—dedicated educators who go the extra mile for students, staff, and our school community. These individuals were selected from a strong pool of nominations, reflecting the passion and excellence found across our district.
We are proud to announce our final certified PC MVP of the school year:

🏆 PC MVP: Mr. Brian Mayer – High School Teacher & Coach

Coach Mayer serves as a Middle and High School Physical Education Teacher, Varsity Boys' Track & Field Head Coach, and Varsity Football Assistant Coach. His commitment to students—both on and off the field—is unmatched. Staff members shared:
"Coach Mayer goes above and beyond to help not only the athletes of Putnam County but any student he comes into contact with. He pushes students to be better and proud of where they come from. He’ll never let a student settle for less than their best."
"Each morning, he writes a motivational quote on his whiteboard for students and staff, often with a fun drawing that sparks meaningful conversations about character and effort. His influence reaches far beyond athletics. PC wouldn’t be the same without him."
Coach Mayer’s dedication to building strong character, holding students accountable, and creating a culture of excellence makes him an invaluable part of the PC team.

PC MVP Finalists: Miss Emma Bushnell & Mr. Treven Milburn

👏 PC MVP Finalist: Miss Emma Bushnell – 2nd Grade Teacher

New to Putnam County this year, Miss Bushnell has already made a lasting impact. Staff praised her kind heart, calm classroom presence, and unwavering dedication to her students.
"Emma makes learning fun and engaging while meeting each student where they are. Her classroom is a calm, welcoming space where students thrive."
"She may be one of our youngest teachers, but she leads with professionalism and heart. She arrives early, stays late, and supports her colleagues every step of the way."
We’re grateful for the energy, care, and passion Miss Bushnell brings to PCR-I.

👏 PC MVP Finalist: Mr. Treven Milburn – Middle School Science Teacher & JH Scholar Bowl Coach

In his first year at Putnam County, Mr. Milburn has brought energy and innovation to middle school science. From hands-on labs to “Milburn’s Olympics” in the hallway, he’s made science exciting for his students.
"Students are engaged, competitive, and having fun while learning. He expects a lot from them, and they’re rising to the occasion."
"He’s also been a huge help around the building—stepping in to cover classes and even reviving our Junior High Scholar Bowl team. He’s a team player who brings positivity to everything he does."
Mr. Milburn is a true example of how first-year teachers can bring fresh ideas and meaningful impact to a school community.
